What Our Factory Auditors Examine

Every factory audit covers four core domains. You receive a scored, documented finding for each — not just a pass/fail summary.

01 — Legal & Business

Business Credentials

We verify the factory is who they claim to be — confirming legal registration, export licenses, ownership, and production scope match what was presented.

  • Business license and registration status
  • Export certification and trade history
  • Ownership structure verification
  • Production scope vs. quoted capabilities
02 — Production

Manufacturing Capability

We walk the production floor, assess equipment condition, count active lines, and compare stated capacity against observable reality — including subcontracting risk.

  • Equipment inventory and condition
  • Production line count and utilization
  • Workforce size and skills assessment
  • Subcontracting practices and controls
03 — Quality

Quality Management System

We evaluate incoming material controls, in-process inspection points, calibration records, and how the factory handles non-conformances and corrective actions.

  • Incoming material inspection process
  • In-process QC checkpoints
  • Calibration and testing equipment
  • Non-conformance and CAPA procedures
04 — Compliance

Regulatory & Social Compliance

We check that the factory meets applicable environmental, safety, and labor regulations — and review records for any history of violations or pending actions.

  • Health and safety practices
  • Environmental permit compliance
  • Labor standards and working hours
  • Fire safety and emergency procedures

Choose the Right Audit for Your Situation

Different sourcing scenarios call for different audit depths. We match the scope to your actual risk exposure.

Capability Audit

A full-day assessment of a factory's production equipment, capacity, workforce, and technical ability to produce your specific product. Recommended before any new supplier relationship.

Quality System Audit

A focused review of the factory's quality management practices — incoming inspection, in-process controls, final inspection, calibration records, and corrective action procedures.

Social Compliance Audit

Assessment of labor conditions, wages, working hours, worker safety, and management practices against SA8000 or your own code of conduct standards. Required by many retailers and brands.

Follow-Up / Re-Audit

After an initial audit identifies corrective actions, a follow-up audit confirms whether the factory has actually implemented the required improvements before production proceeds.

How a Factory Audit Works

From your first inquiry to the final written report, here's what to expect at every stage.

01

Briefing & Scope Agreement

You tell us the factory name, location, and what you need to verify. We agree on audit type, access requirements, and turnaround time.

02

Factory Contact & Scheduling

We coordinate directly with the factory to schedule the audit date. Unannounced audits can be arranged for existing suppliers on request.

03

On-Site Audit Day

Our auditor spends a full day on-site — reviewing documents, inspecting the production floor, interviewing management, and photographing key findings.

04

Written Report Delivery

You receive a scored, structured audit report with photos within 3–5 business days. The report includes a prioritized corrective action list and our recommendation.

Why independence matters

Many audit providers also earn revenue from the factories they audit — through referral fees, ongoing inspection contracts, or consulting services sold to the supplier. This creates a structural conflict: a factory that fails costs the auditor future business.

At Luckee, 100% of our revenue comes from our clients. We have no commercial relationship with any factory. A failing audit is just an honest result.

What you receive

  • Scored report across all audit categories
  • Photographic evidence for each finding
  • Prioritized corrective action list (CAR)
  • Auditor recommendation (approve / conditional / block)
  • Delivered in PDF within 3–5 business days

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a factory audit take?
A standard factory capability audit takes one full business day on-site. Complex audits covering multiple production lines, extensive compliance requirements, or social accountability standards may take two days. You receive a written report within 3–5 business days of the audit date.
What is included in the audit report?
Our reports include business credential verification, production capacity assessment, quality management system review, equipment and calibration status, workforce and subcontracting details, regulatory compliance findings, photographic evidence, and a prioritized corrective action list with an auditor recommendation.
Do you audit factories outside of China?
Yes. While China is our primary market, we conduct factory audits across Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, and other key manufacturing regions. Contact us to confirm coverage in a specific location.
How is Luckee different from an audit by a trading company?
Luckee is 100% vendor-independent. We accept no rebates, commissions, or kickbacks from suppliers or factories. Our findings are unbiased — we have no financial incentive to pass a factory that should fail. Our revenue comes entirely from fixed client billing.
Can an audit be conducted without advance notice to the factory?
Unannounced or semi-announced audits can be arranged for existing supplier relationships where you have a legitimate need to verify ongoing compliance. We discuss feasibility during the briefing stage, as some access requirements may limit this option.
When in the sourcing process should I get a factory audit?
Ideally before you place your first order — especially before paying any tooling deposit. A factory audit is most valuable during supplier qualification, when switching suppliers, or when a supplier's performance has declined and you need an objective assessment of why.
