Industrial Sourcing, on the Record.

Eight documented engagements. Match the evidence to your next supplier, tooling, or shipment decision.

Case Evidence

Factory AuditApproved

Press Tool Factory Capability

ATS Proequipment / United Kingdom

Buyer Risk
A supplier may lack the machining capacity and traceability needed for repeatable press tools.
Verification
Reviewed in-house CNC production, workshop controls, component traceability and die ranges.
Finding
No critical findings; manufacturing capability and required die series were documented.
Decision
Recommended sample approval and an initial order; this was a supplier assessment, not shipment acceptance.

Pre-Shipment QCShipment Hold

Alpha Press Pre-Shipment QC

ATS Proequipment / United Kingdom

Buyer Risk
Incomplete kits or a faulty crimp profile could reach the buyer before correction.
Verification
Verified the 174-kit order quantity, packaging and completeness; performed crimp and 4 MPa leakage checks.
Finding
One major oval-crimp failure and three minor defects; tested joints showed no leakage at 4 MPa.
Decision
Shipment held pending collar correction, kit completion and re-inspection. The published case does not record final release.

Inline InspectionCleared for Shipment

Beta-Press Valve Inline Inspection

ATS Proequipment / United Kingdom

Buyer Risk
Incorrect product identification, dimensions or packaging could delay acceptance.
Verification
Observed laser marking live and reviewed casting marks, dimensions and packaging.
Finding
All four verification points passed; 150.68 mm body length was within tolerance on the checked SKU.
Decision
Cleared for shipment against the documented checks; marking evidence is not an independent material chemistry certification.

Product DevelopmentSample Confirmation

Large-Format Press Tool Development

ATS Proequipment / United Kingdom

Buyer Risk
Large-format tooling capability and force claims require evidence before sample commitment.
Verification
Reviewed DN32-DN150 dies, independent force-test evidence, CMM capability and motor assembly.
Finding
Test evidence recorded 16,874 kg peak force; the portfolio and laboratory capability were documented.
Decision
Development partnership approved for sample confirmation, with DN150 CMM checks and repeat force testing still required.

Material SourcingTrial Order Recommended

A36 Steel Plate Sourcing

Macrodyne / Canada

Buyer Risk
Material substitution or weak traceability could undermine a custom plate order.
Verification
Reviewed CNC flame cutting, mill-to-plate traceability, MTR records and on-site XRF results.
Finding
No critical findings; the published audit recorded material checks and a minor MTR formatting recommendation.
Decision
Recommended a trial order with mandatory third-party inspection of the first shipment; approval was not a blanket release.

Pre-Shipment QCUse As Is

Hercules Steel Plate Inspection

Hercules / Canada

Buyer Risk
Large steel components could arrive with incorrect dimensions or unacceptable workmanship.
Verification
Inspected all five ordered pieces against drawings, including dimensions, tapped hole and loading readiness.
Finding
Zero critical or major findings; two minor workmanship findings were recorded within the stated acceptance limit.
Decision
Use-as-is disposition and clearance for shipment to Vancouver were documented.

Tooling AuditDesign Agreement Recommended

DWI Tooling Partner Assessment

Macrodyne / Canada

Buyer Risk
An unproven tooling partner could introduce forming and first-article trial risk.
Verification
Reviewed die design, AutoForm simulation, precision machining, carbide specification and the trial programme.
Finding
Capability supported an approved sourcing verdict; bilingual communication needed improvement.
Decision
Recommended a formal design agreement and an engineering hold point after first press trials, before tooling adjustment.

Concept EvaluationTrials Required

Ellipsoidal Head Tooling Feasibility

Macrodyne / Canada

Buyer Risk
The available press has no cushion or blank holder, creating flange-wrinkling risk.
Verification
Compared nitrogen spring tooling with simplified draw-forming for two 16-inch shell types.
Finding
Nitrogen spring tooling was the preferred concept for both types; simplified draw-forming was conditional for the thicker type.
Decision
Recommended tooling partner verification and trials. This is concept feasibility, not validated production performance.

Sources, Methodology and Limitations

Luckee compiled this edition from the eight public spotlight pages linked above, reviewed on October 17, 2026. Each summary follows the source record: buyer risk, verification work, documented finding and resulting recommendation or disposition. The source pages remain the detailed evidence record.

The set comprises three supplier capability or sourcing audits, two shipment QC inspections, one inline inspection, one development visit and one tooling concept assessment. These are different types of engagement and must not be pooled into a pass rate.

This is a selected public case series, not all Luckee engagements or a representative sample of Chinese suppliers. Some cases concern the same client. Measurements and results describe the specific products, samples and checks documented; they are not guarantees for future batches. XRF evidence alone does not establish every ASTM mechanical or chemical requirement. Concept assessments do not establish production readiness.

No savings estimates, defect prevalence or portfolio performance percentages are inferred. A recommendation to proceed is distinguished from confirmed corrective action or final shipment release. Customer and technical details follow the already-public source records.
